4th of July

I love the 4th of July!
It was especially good for me this year because it was on a Sunday and I was able to tie my Sunday School lesson into the theme of Freedom- and what happens when you turn your back on God, especially when it relates to freedom!

We were talking about Moses and Israel's flight from Egypt. It's amazing how many times they turned their backs on God, and ended up SLAVES again and again.

And I think about how America is turning it's back on God.

One of our founding fathers said ‎"America is great because she is good. If she ceases to be good she will cease to be great!"

This year we staked out our favorite spot on the dam of Lake Grapevine. My mom had made a beautiful cake with blueberries for stars, and strawberries and icing for stripes. So we all enjoyed watching the sun set while snacking on cake and chips :)

After the fireworks show, and the incredibly long wait in the line of cars leaving the dam, we played with the leftover fireworks from the night before in our back yard. Thankfully my dad took pictures with his really nice camera, and we have some fun shots from the glow of the sparklers! Happy Independence Day!!!
