We finally made it back into Texas :)
I think I like the drive to Carlsbad better then the drive through Amarillo.
We experienced an extremely intense electrical storm before reaching I-20, where I was pretty sure at any moment we would be struck! Once on the other side we pulled over to a rest stop where you could see both the cloud to ground lighting and the cloud to cloud. It was amazing to see such a storm!

You're a brave woman to do all this traveling with 4 kids. I don't think I could handle it.
