4th of July...fun???

This day started out with a BANG :) LOL
We took my SIL and her kiddos down to Grandbury with the boat with full intentions of enjoying a day on the lake. HA HA, not so! :)

It had already been a long morning by the time we had loaded everything up in the cars to make the hour trip to Grandbury, full of lots of fighting and screaming children. Alex took his sister and two of the seven kids in the truck, without AC, pulling the boat. I got to ride in the wonderful air conditioned van with two screaming babies and two very tired, grumpy boys. Unfortunately, every time we take that silly truck out it has some sort of brake down. This day was no different, as it started over heating and would not drive over 50 mph. Then the roads by the lake house were over crowded as nearly every house was entertaining guests. Alex ended up having to unhitch the boat to try and turn around in a col-du-sac full of people! The road however was so HOT that the front wheel of the boat trailer was sinking into the asphalt!! (there is now a rut there, and tar burned into the bottom of Adrienne's flip flop!)

In the end, Dan went to help Alex launch the boat, and the water was too far down to use the ramp they had in the subdivision. No boating in our boat :( So we tried to lower the pontoon boat that was currently in Gram's boat dock. The lake was so low that the straps couldn't clear the boat!! How frustrating :( No boating at all!!

Here are a few pictures of swimming, at least we could do that. Alex was standing most of the time- and that's just too gross for me. He and Adrienne also complained about getting bitten by something...way too oogy for me!!

After dinner we packed everyone up and headed into town to try and find a spot under fireworks. Since Alex was apposed to leaving the boat we decided to pull into Lowe's parking lot and sit in the boat. It turned out to be one of the BEST firework watching experiences ever! In the parking lot there were several storage sheds that the kids played in, and this really fantastic boat!! I was a little bummed that we were further from where the launch site was last time, which really wasn't close enough for me anyway :) but there was plenty to entertain the kids as we waited for it to get dark. I was pleasantly surprised when the show started and it was right by us!! Apparently they are now building apartments at the old launch site, and had to move up the lake :) HAPPY DAY!!! Some of the explosions had Jeremiah covering his ears (he hates loud nosies, including the vacuum cleaner!) and took up about half the sky. Even Ben was saying "woohh" and "ahh"

Then the kids went back to playing in the houses, as we waited for traffic to clear. They were all asleep in about 5 minutes once we started home :)

HAPPY FOURTH!!
